Botox (Botulinum Toxin)
What is it?
Botox or Botulinum Toxin is neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This protein causes relaxation of the muscles and it is used to medically treat muscle spasms or used for cosmetics such as facial wrinkles, creases, face lifting or crow’s feet. If you receive fake botox, it may cause you food poisoning and sometimes Myasthenia Gravis.
There are 2 types of Botulinum Toxin developed to be used in medicine and cosmetics and those are called Type A and Type B but only Type A is allowed to be imported to Thailand by Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
How Botox Works
After botox injection, toxin specifically binds to nerves which use the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and affects preventing the cell from releasing vesicles of neurotransmitter. This stops nerve signaling, leading to paralysis in the injected area, causing muscle relaxation.
Skin Botox
Botox can help reducing wrinkles and creases in so many areas on our face. The popular areas that people always tend to do it are crow’s feet, smile lines, forehead, and under-eye wrinkles. If injecting it into the wrong spot, it is capable of causing messed up eyebrow shape, Bell’s palsy, or facial palsy.
The result after botox injection will last for 3-6 months depending on how you take care yourself after the treatment. The more you do so much of face expression, the sooner wrinkles come back.
Face Shape Botox
Botox will be injected into jawline area causing muscle contraction. It will make your jaw look smaller and lifted up. In Thailand, V-shape and U-shape face are very popular. According to jawline botox injection, it needed a special technique to do it because if you are injected in a wrong spot or use overdosed quantity of botox it can cause you an uneven face. Or if a doctor injects overdosed quantity of botox into your jawline, you can have a chewing problem later on. The result after the injection usually last for 6-12 months.
Eyebrow Botox
Botox is injectable to adjust your eyebrow shape into whatever shape you want such as arched eyebrow, straight eyebrow, etc.
Oily Face Botox
Other than using botox to lift your face up, it also has an ability to restrain sebaceous and sweat glands. It will make your pores smaller and skin smoother and prevent an oily face.

Botox Precautions
After the injection, avoid lying horizontally for 4 hours or massage the injected area because the medicine will spread to the attached areas around and cause an unwanted symptom such as a feeling of tightness across the forehead.
Is Botox Dangerous?
From general stats, people who did botox injection included Thais and foreigners have no severe problems causing to death but only have some side effects from it for instant, chewing food, droopy eyelid, or uneven face. Most of those side effects happened from fake botox or less experienced doctors or injectors. So, please choose wisely about where and who are you doing to do the injection with and you will have nothing to worry about.
